Debbie Lonergan, 58, of Burleson went to meet her Savior on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Funeral: 6 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Ridge Funeral Home, 705 Airport Freeway in Hurst. Interment: 1 p.m. Wednesday in Davidson, Okla. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, Debbie had requested that donations be made to Covenant Hospice, 3221 Collinsworth St., Suite 160, Fort Worth, Texas 76107 to further her passion and belief in the mission of hospice care. Debbie was born Sept. 11, 1952, in Vernon. She lived her life as a joyful servant to others. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend. Her smile and laughter always lit up the room. Debbie shared 37 years of dedicated service as a nurse at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth. She lived to care for others. Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Lewis; husband, Michael R. Lonergan; grandmother, Pearl Lowe; grandfather, Lonnie Lewis; and beloved pet Schnauzer, General. Survivors: Daughter, Rebecca Smith and husband, Michael; sons, Justin and Daniel Lonergan; adopted daughter, Jennifer Singletary; mother, Jennie Lewis Yates and husband, William; her 106-year-old grandmother, Parma Lewis; brothers, Steve Lewis and wife, Cyd, Craig Lewis and wife, Denise, Lonnie D. Lewis and friend, Carlos; adopted sister and friend, Jan Bridges; along with many more loved ones she adopted as well as a host of nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
