Kay Elaine Brown, 45, a high school counselor, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at a local hospital.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Blessing Funeral Home, 401 Elm St. in Mansfield.

Kay Brown was born April 12, 1952, at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth. She was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth, a graduate of Paschal High School and obtained her masters degree in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington. She worked for a number of local agencies including Catholic Social Services, Aids Outreach and the Parenting Center. She was currently employed as a counselor at Nolan High School.
She passed away after a long and courageous battle with melanoma.
She was an inspiration to us all, and all her family and her many friends will miss her loving presence.
Survivors: Husband, Jeffrey Brown; brothers, Jack Crowder and Bill Crowder; a niece; a nephew; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
