Goodbye, We Love You!
Our friends and loved ones far and near, The times and places we hold so dear
To lose or forget them is our fear, And drown our sorrows with a tear.
The memories long dormant rushing through, We paint the pictures so bright and true
With joy, frustration, sadness too, And more tears coming, just a few.
The cloudy day and sleepless night, An ending to this a life long fight
We try restraint with all our might, These tears that flow just don't feel right.
We miss our loved ones very much, Their special laughter and gentle touch
The love and anguish it is such, That tears from memories we will clutch.
We want to tell you that we do, Remember good times, more than a few
We're going to miss you this is true, Our tears are saying, "WE LOVE YOU!"
Gerald A. Worden
June 1991
This was written to a tune that started rattling around in my head shortly after our 20th reunion.
Early in 1991, I attended the funeral for Vera Whitten and then one for my favorite Aunts.
The words just fell on to the paper after each of these events and fit the tune perfectly.
